H.M. King Bhumibol Adulyadej 80th Anniversary Watch
Bangkok, Friday 16th November 2007 – JR Mayer Collections® in association with the American University Alumni Association (AUA) held the opening ceremony to present the H.M. King Bhumibol Adulyadej 80th Anniversary Watch at Bangkok’s premier luxury shopping destination, Gaysorn.
The upscale launch was presided over by such notable figures in Thai society as H.E. General Pichit Kullavanijaya, Privy Councillor; Thanpuying Pharani Mahanonda, Her Majesty's Deputy Private Secretary; Thanpuying Sri Limpichart and Khun Korn Dabbaransi. Other honoured guests who graced this event were Khun Dibhayarak Sukhum, Chairman of the AUA; Mr. Bernhard Mayer, Chairman of JR Mayer Collections®; as well as many other guests and various members of the media and press.
The evening’s programme commenced with hostess the lovely M.C. Kara Polasit calling on stage JR Mayer Collections® Chairman, Mr. Bernhard Mayer, who warmly welcomed the audience. He gave spectators an introductory speech by stating that the event signified the company’s ambition to introduce premium products and high-quality works of art into the Thai market to celebrate the auspicious occasion of the 80th Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej on 5th December 2007.
AUA Chairman Khun Dibhayarak’s address followed where he showed his appreciation for the impressive project with JR Mayer Collections®. He also highlighted the exquisite specifications of this timepiece which include the classic slim and smooth round case, the Phor Por Ror or an abbreviation of His Majesty’s Royal Signature which is engraved on a fine gold medallion, and “Birthplace@๘๐” and “Cambridge,Mass.” on the dial commemorating the King’s 80th Birthday Anniversary and birthplace. He further announced that all proceeds (after deduction of related expenses) will go to the Mahidol Adulyadej Foundation in funding the education of students of the Faculty of Medical Science at several Thai universities.
Presiding over the launch, H.E. General Pichit Kullavanijaya thanked both JR Mayer Collections® and AUA for their joint cooperation in launching the King’s Anniversary watch. He went on to express his gratitude to all involved and for the anticipated donations to the Mahidol Adulyadej Foundation that will follow from the sales of this special watch.
The launch had a generally impressive and elegant atmosphere. The exquisite timepiece was exhibited at the King’s Watch Display booth while a specially-prepared video was played highlighting the watch. A Q&A session and discussion between Khun Korn Dabbaransi and Thanpuying Pharani Mahanonda about memoirs in serving H.M. the King followed after. The event came to a graceful close with a farewell song from special guest singer Khun Radkaow Amaradit.

The H.M. King Bhumibol Adulyadej 80th Anniversary Watch is manufactured and assembled to the highest standards by the leading Swiss brand,CIMIER, and is exclusively distributed here in Thailand by JR Mayer Collections®. Only by Royal approval was CIMIER granted the privilege to engrave The King’s Royal Signature, the ‘Phor Por Ror’, on the fine gold medallion on the watch dial. This Royal signature is framed by a total of 80 dots each denoting the auspicious number for this landmark year. In addition, “Birthplace@๘o” and “Cambridge, Mass.” are enshrined on the silver dial commemorating the King’s 80th Birthday Anniversary and his birthplace. A gold-plated Thai-style number “9” is positioned at 9 o’clock signifying His Majesty as the 9th King of the Chakri Dynasty. The caseback will be engraved with the serial number as this timekeeping masterpiece is produced with a limited edition of 9,999 pieces.
