A Noble Medal to Honour H.M. King Bhumibol Adulyadej

His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej has devoted his life to the welfare of the people of Thailand since ascending the Throne. As the majority of the people depend on agriculture for their living, that is where His Majesty's major interests and efforts are focussed. During his long reign, His Majesty has developed thousands of projects throughout the country, covering diverse areas such as land reclamation, irrigation and water harvesting, fish culture, livestock, horticulture, food processing and food conservation. His Majesty also invented in 2002 an improved technique for inducing rainfall.

On the Auspicious Occasion of the 60th Anniversary Celebrations of His Majesty's Accession to the Throne, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) re-issues and offers to the public the Agricola Medal bestowed to His Majesty on 6 December 1995. The medal, when issued originally in 1995, marked the 50th Anniversary Celebrations of His Majesty's Accession to the Throne and the 50th Anniversary of the founding of FAO.

Exclusively distributed by JR Mayer Collections Ltd, the medals are available with a limited edition in 60 g 750 gold, 4 g 916 gold, 12 g 750 gold, 60 g 999 fine silver, and 50-mm bronze. The obverse depicts the portrait of the King, armed with a camera and a map, a familiar sight to rural Thai people, whom he visits 7 to 8 months a year. The reverse shows His Majesty the King during his visit to his people, here in typical Thai farmer's attire. The inscription Sustainable development for a secure future reflects a policy advocated by His Majesty the King.
